Ruh روح is the spirit or soul. It is also one of the Lata’if, the “subtleties” of Sufi psychology also known as Chambers of the Heart, and the color red is attributed to it.
Uncharacteristically, the image of the design came to me spontaneously, and from there it was a matter of finding out if it was possible to create it in the manner faithful both to the script and to geometry by which I work. The resulting “flower” brought to mind the above quote.
Finished inks, with a mistake! At the very last moment I drew a circle in the wrong place! Mercifully I was able to cover it up with the watercolor…
