This was designed in the aftermath of a car bomb assassination in Beirut. I wanted to capture the depressed and exhausted state of a people that had mourned so much over so long that the pain of it was numbed and only the darkness remained. Originally I envisioned a painted black square with grey lines, but by the time I got back home to my work station, I had had a very inspiring conversation that crystallized a new direction for my work.
