This is an unusually spontaneous piece from me, born from a day the volume of bad news from around the world tipped me over the edge into a leaden feeling of depression. On my way to the studio, I pondered where I could find a sanctuary when threatened with this kind of overwhelm. This title and image came in answer.
The central design is made up of the word “heart” قلب in Square Kufic calligraphy. The darkness besieging it is made up of words that I don’t feel I need to list – think of everything out there that is making you anxious, angry or sorrowful, and you’ll know.
