A different take on my recent piece Fancy, taking it out of the bounds of paper so it can float freely as a wall sculpture. The madness is in the unpredictable, indeed uncontrollable patinas acquired by the copper while fired with a blowtorch, in vibrant contrast to the extreme precision of the laser-cutting and assembling. A joyful piece!
Love Is a Madman
“Love is a madman,
working his wild schemes, tearing off his clothes,
running through the mountains, drinking poison,
and now quietly choosing annihilation.”
– Rumi
Laser-cut copper, fired, mounted on wood. 58 cm diameter.
Stunning. Before reading your description, I knew it had something to do with Rumi.
Wow, thanks!
